Kerttu Opus

KERTTU OPUS is a circus performer and creator.

Starting her career in Tampere, Finland she has been a performer since the age of 7, winning multiple awards internationally with her Aerial Straps performances. She is a graduate of the École Nationale de Cirque - Montreal where she specialized in Aerial Straps, Hand to Hand and Dance Acrobatics. After graduation she was one of the founding members of F:A:Q; a circus collective and toured with their original creations.

Since 2015 she has worked in between North-America, Europe and Australia with her company Royal Particle productions, touring her solo show Particle # B. In 2020 she settled herself back in Tampere, colliding her artistic endeavors under Opus Company with Adam.

Kerttu’s artistic work focuses on creating original contemporary circus performances. They are often based in abstract narrative and experimental circus techniques that are inherent to each new performance. Since 2022 she has been focusing her personal practice on developing contemporary iterations of quick change magic as well as exploring the borders between performance and installation art.

ADAM OPUS is a circus artist, director and theatre maker

Conceived at sea and born at the end of the earth, Adam’s journey has been far from linear. From Hollywood movie studios to the jungles of Indonesia, Adam has experience the depths and breadths of the performing arts industry. 

A theatre school drop out, he repented for his sins by studying at the National Institute of Circus Arts - Australia. Graduating in 2015 with a Bachelor of Circus Arts and an award in excellence from Circus Oz. 

Australian born, he now bases his life and artistic work out of Tampere, Finland. 

Adam seeks to challenge traditional notions of what circus can be and push the boundaries of the art form. He believes that circus is a powerful tool for exploring complex ideas and describes his work as a search for moments best encapsulated by the philosophical ideal of ‘Sublime’.
